Misawa is the home to the 3rd Air Wing comprising of the 3rd and 8th Hikotai.The former is an F-2A/B unit whilst the latter was in the process converting to that type from the F-4EJ.The Hiko Keikai Kanshitai also bases its E-2C's here. The base also has a USAF presence with the 35th Fighter Wing comprising of the 13th and 14th Fighter Squadrons with the Lockheed F-16CJ/DJ Fighting Falcon.In addition there is a civil terminal seviced by JAL
