NAS Key West is the home to a number of units. Previously known as Det Key West VFC-13,this unit had been renumbered to full Squadron status as VFC-111 only a couple of months prior to our visit in February 2007.The unit performs an adversory role with the the Northrop F-5N Tiger.VFA-106 is a Fleet Replacement squadron providing training on the F/A-18C/D Hornet and F/A-8E/F Super Hornet.The squadron maintains a detachment at Key West.Also present were the 419th Fighter Wing AFRC with thier F-16's and VFA-31 FA-18F Super Hornets
